Global Supply Manager Salary in 2026: Pay Bands at Tesla, Rivian, SpaceX, Anduril, and Apple
What Global Supply Managers actually make, from employer-posted ranges. Base salary by level and cost-of-living tier, real postings by company, and why the big jump is at Director.
Global Supply Manager pay is more transparent than it used to be. California, Washington, Colorado, New York, and Illinois require salary ranges on job postings, and most hard-tech employers hire in at least one of those states. That means you can see what Rivian, Tesla, SpaceX, Anduril, and Apple are willing to pay before you ever talk to a recruiter.
This guide compiles those posted ranges into one picture: base salary by level and cost-of-living tier, the actual postings behind the numbers, and the two things the data tells you about where the money is on the GSM ladder.
Everything here is from employer-posted ranges and public salary aggregators as of October 2026. Ranges are what the employer says they will pay, not offers, and your position in the band depends on experience and negotiation.
Base salary by level and cost-of-living tier
| Level | Tier 1 · Bay Area, LA, Seattle, Boston | Tier 2 · Denver, Austin, DC, Phoenix | Tier 3 · MI, IL, TX, FL, SC | Typical years |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GSM / Sourcing Manager | $115–180K | $105–150K | $85–125K | 3–6 |
| Senior GSM | $120–195K | $115–175K | $95–165K | 5–9 |
| Lead / Staff GSM | $140–210K | $125–185K | $110–170K | 8–12 |
| Manager (people lead) | $125–195K | $115–180K | $105–175K | 10+ |
| Senior Manager | $145–250K | $125–220K | $115–200K | 12+ |
| Director | $200–330K | $180–280K | $160–240K | 15+ |
Geography moves base 20 to 30 percent between Tier 1 and Tier 3. Legacy primes publish the exact discount by geo-zone; startups just post lower numbers at their cheaper sites.
What the ladder actually looks like
Two patterns stand out once the ranges are side by side.
Base is flat from Senior GSM through Manager. A Senior GSM, a Lead GSM, and a first-line Manager at the same company in the same city post within $20K of each other. The title changes more than the paycheck. If you are a Lead GSM considering a Manager role for the money, check the band first; the gain is often in scope and future optionality, not this year’s base.
The jump is at Director. Director bands start where Senior Manager bands end, base rises about $50K, and equity roughly doubles. This is the level where the compensation structure changes, and it is why GSMs who want to move the number materially plan for a Director path rather than another IC step.

How the sectors compare
EV (Tesla, Rivian, Lucid). Rivian posts narrow, predictable bands by level and location. Tesla posts very wide bands and lets equity do the work; a strong candidate can land well above a Rivian band on the same title. Both sit in the middle of the pack on base.
New space (SpaceX, Blue Origin, Relativity). Base comparable to EV, with equity that has real upside but no liquidity until an exit. Relativity’s Staff GSM band at $141–211K is one of the higher IC postings in the set.
Defense tech (Anduril, Shield AI). Now at or above EV at Senior and Lead levels in the same city. Anduril’s $166–220K Senior Supply Chain Manager posting in Waltham is above most EV Lead GSM bands. Roles that build a sourcing function from scratch at a new site tend to convert to Director fastest.
Legacy primes (Lockheed, Northrop, Raytheon, Boeing). Lower base and no equity, but explicit geo-zone tables, pension-style benefits, and stability. They close the gap at Director through benefits rather than cash.
Apple. The ceiling for IC GSMs. Base is in line with everyone else; the difference is $60–90K per year in stock on top. If you are optimizing total comp as an individual contributor, Apple is the benchmark.

Send me the guideHow to use this when negotiating
- Find the band for the level and location before the recruiter screen. If the posting says $107.8–134.8K and you ask for $150K, you have told them you did not read it. If you ask for $132K with a reason, you are at the top of the band.
- Ask where the offer sits in the band and what moves it. Recruiters will tell you. “Middle of the band, and the top is reserved for candidates with X” is actionable.
- Negotiate the level, not just the number. A Lead GSM band in Palo Alto tops out $40K above the Senior GSM band. If your experience supports Lead, argue for the level; the band comes with it.
- Separate base, equity, and sign-on. Startups will often hold base and move equity or sign-on. Know which you want.
- Get the equity details. Grant size, vesting, current preferred price or 409A, and refresh policy. “Equity” without those numbers is not an offer component.
