Supplier development

Most supply problems at launch were visible at sourcing. We help you pick suppliers that can survive your ramp, and help the ones you have get there.

When companies call us

  • A new program needs a supply base that does not exist yet
  • A critical part is sole-sourced and volume is about to double
  • A supplier is missing quality or delivery and the launch date is fixed
  • Tariffs, export controls, or ITAR requirements are forcing a move to domestic or nearshore sources
  • Leadership wants dual sources but nobody has time to qualify them

What we do

Sourcing strategy. Commodity by commodity: how many suppliers, which regions, which capabilities, and what the volume split should be. We balance cost against concentration risk explicitly, so the trade-off is a decision rather than an accident.

RFQ and selection. RFQ packages that get comparable quotes, supplier capability and capacity screens, financial health checks, and a scored selection your engineering and quality teams sign off on.

Site assessments. On-site reviews of process capability, capacity, quality systems, and management depth. We look for the things that fail at rate: tooling readiness, staffing plans, and sub-tier exposure.

Launch readiness. APQP tracking, PPAP planning, run-at-rate preparation, and the weekly cadence that catches capacity problems while there is still time to fix them.

What you get

  • Commodity sourcing strategies with a supplier map and target split
  • Shortlists with capability, capacity, and risk scoring
  • RFQ packages and quote comparisons
  • Site assessment reports with corrective-action plans
  • A launch-readiness tracker for the critical suppliers

Questions about supplier development

Short answers to what operations and engineering leaders ask first.

Do you help with nearshoring and domestic sourcing?

Yes. We evaluate Mexico, US, and other nearshore options against landed cost, tariff and export-control exposure, and the time it takes to qualify, so you can see the real trade-off before committing.

Can you help with ITAR or defense supply chains?

We help structure sourcing for defense programs, including domestic-source requirements and DFARS flow-downs. Classified or ITAR-controlled technical data stays with your cleared personnel.

How long does it take to qualify a second source?

For a complex direct-material part, plan on six to twelve months from RFQ to PPAP. Simple parts can move in eight to twelve weeks.

Have a cost target you need to hit?

Tell us the commodity, the program stage, and the number. We reply within two business days.
